POSHAN ABHIYAN- OBSERVING POSHAN MAA ( MONTH OF NUTRITION) DURING SEPTEMBER 2018
POSHAN ABHIYAN is a flagship programme of Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India which ensures convergence with various other centrally sponsored programmes having nutrition as a component. Ministry of Human Resources Department is a partner ministry of MWCD in this venture.
National Council of POSHAN held on 24.07.2018 decided to celebrate "Rashitrya POSHAN MAA" *( Month of POSHAN) during the month of September 2018. The following programmes need to be undertaken under Mid day Meal Scheme as part of observing Rashtriya POSHAN MAA. All AEOs, Senior Superintendents and NMOs must join hands to implement the following programmes/activities during this month to celebrate the month of POSHAN.
POSHAN means nutrition or nourishment.
Activities to be organized:-
(1) Awareness campaign for children especially adolescent girls. Awareness programmes/ classes shall be conducted in schools for the children and parent community. Awareness regarding the importance of nutrition, cleanliness, good health, balanced diet, consumption of green leafy vegetables and pulses, safe menstrual health, setting up kitchen gardens in schools, etc shall be carried out with the support of Department of Agriculture, Department of Health and Family Affairs and Food Safety Department. Officials of the departments of Agriculture, Food Safety and Health & Family Affairs may be invited to take classes/awareness programmes in schools.
(2) School Mid day Meal Committees shall be exclusively convened during the last week of September 2018 to discuss issues related to nutrition, hand-wash, setting up kitchen gardens, use of water filters, etc.
(4) The programmes/activities shall be organized in at least 25 schools under each AEO due to time constraints and due to the fact that there are only a few days left for the close of September 2018.
(3) All the above activities shall be organized before 30.09.2018. The list of participants ( children and adults) shall be properly recorded and the data handed over to DDEs concerned in the following format
